Our History

The Magnesia Team was founded in 2000 by a core group of mountaineers.
In 2003, the team's statute was officially approved by the Volos Court of First Instance, establishing it as the Magnesia branch (Protocol No. 1846 – 31/1/2003).
Today, the team comprises 150 members and collaborators. Our headquarters are located in the Neapoli area of Volos, behind the former ANEM building.

E.O.D. Magnesia is a certified member of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (Ministry of Interior, A.M. 4/2003).
We are an official and permanent member of the Magnesia Coordinating Prefectural Body (S.N.O.) for emergency management, as well as an official member of the Coordinating Municipal Body on emergency matters.

As a branch of E.O.D., we have been certified to participate in international missions responding to natural disasters under the auspices of the United Nations and its agency INSARAG (for Mass Disasters), as well as with IKAR (the global mountain rescue organization) and the International Maritime Rescue organization.

Our mission is to continuously promote volunteerism and to expand collaboration with other volunteer teams operating both within Thessaly and beyond.

"Volunteering is more than an action—it’s a way of life. It embodies values like solidarity, social justice, and active participation in the community, inspiring us to make a real difference."
